BACKGROUND

The Infrastructure Manager would be expected to live in the Portland metro area and be onsite several times a month.

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the IT Manager, the Infrastructure Manager manages Energy Trust’s computing infrastructure ensuring a stable and secure computing environment and ensuring excellent, responsive customer service through the helpdesk.

The Infrastructure Manager collaborates on the selection, design, implementation, maintenance, and support of all networks, security, servers, cloud-based infrastructure assets, workstations and communications links to ensure acceptable response time, availability, flexibility, and security.

The Infrastructure Manager collaborates on the implementation, upgrades, and performance of applications or systems such as Azure, Great Plains, SharePoint, CRM, and Exchange.

This role manages the Infrastructure team, ensuring the efficient and effective use of the team’s time to fulfill Energy Trust’s business objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage and provide day-to-day oversight of the Infrastructure team. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training staff, assigning and managing work, and guiding the development and implementation of employee work plans.
  • Mentor and support team member’s daily work routine, identify areas of improvements, and assess progress.
  • Support infrastructure staff by alleviating roadblocks and resolving any conflicts.
  • Provide technical leadership across the infrastructure team. Develop and implement procedures to ensure the effective access, use, management, security and availability of networks and systems to business users to meet business goals.
  • Develop architecture and strategies to ensure hardware and networking scalability and to meet current and future business needs.
  • Develop and oversee implementation of policies supporting the Information Security Management System (ISMS).
  • Develop and oversee implementation of procedures to ensure compliance with the policies of the ISMS.
  • Manage and ensure the effectiveness of security solutions, including firewalls, authentication, anti-virus solutions, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Manage projects using a standardized project management methodology.
  • In conjunction with the IT Manager help develop the IT budget that supports all of Energy Trust.
  • Manage Energy Trust IT infrastructure, server hardware, server environment, server room facilities, infrastructure cloud assets, workstations and hardware upgrades, and hardware capacity.
  • Manage and ensure optimal operation of all network hardware and equipment, including routers, firewalls, switches, UPSs, VOIP telephone switches, and access security systems.
  • Manage and assist the infrastructure team in complex network, server, system analysis, process automation, network architecture and design, testing implementation of infrastructure hardware and software.
  • Ensure that documentation, policies, procedures, and help sheets are created and maintained for all network, desktop, communication, and server hardware, software, and communication links, including data, voice, security, and audio-video systems.
  • Collaborate with IT teams and business users as a technical resource to design, develop, test, and implement improvements to systems that permit more efficient and accurate processing.
  • Ensure that disaster recovery plans are maintained and tested. Maintain current knowledge of plan executables. Respond to emergency network and system outages in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Provide technical support and consulting to resolve complex IT issues.
  • Perform all functions of the job in a safe manner.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
  • Direct supervision of IT Infrastructure staff.
  • Hires and directs the work of external contractors and vendors.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS 
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science from an accredited college or university; or equivalent education/experience in the information technology field.
  • 3 years of Infrastructure management experience.
  • 10 years of IT infrastructure related experience.
  • 3 years of experience working with compliance standards such as ISO 27001/2, PCI, NIST, etc.
  • 5 years of experience with LANs, WANs, VPNs, and Firewalls.
  • Strong technical knowledge of network and operating systems, including Windows Desktop, Windows Servers, and Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience working with SharePoint, CRM, Exchange, Great Plains, browser based custom applications, IIS, and collaboration software.
  • Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, security, and standards.
  • Experience in system architecture, security, Microsoft server/software, and advanced networking.
  • Experience managing projects to completion.          
  • Exceptionally strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written, oral, listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience communicating ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Experience prioritizing and executing tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Familiarity with standard business processes.
  • Strong customer service skills and experience. Must be able to interact with a diverse workforce and be comfortable working in culturally diverse settings and groups.
