This position will be based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and/or Washington, D.C. FIRE operates on a hybrid work schedule that allows for a mix of in-the-office and remote work for eligible employees.

So we're on a mission to promote and defend free speech for all Americans without fear or favor — and we need an entrepreneurial and enthusiastic Marketing Associate who can work to ensure the proper promotion of FIRE’s work. FIRE’s advocacy relates to on- and off-campus issues. In the higher ed context, we also defend other individual rights including due process, academic freedom, and freedom of association. Applicants should be familiar with FIRE’s work both on campus and in the broader society.
The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression’s mission is to defend and sustain the individual rights of all Americans to free speech and free thought — the most essential qualities of liberty. FIRE educates Americans about the importance of these inalienable rights, promotes a culture of respect for these rights, and provides the means to preserve them.
The Marketing Associate is responsible for aiding in the implementation of digital and traditional activism and marketing strategies in support of FIRE’s mission to unapologetically defend and sustain the individual rights of all Americans to free speech and free thought.

This position involves a limited amount of travel. Occasional work on evenings and weekends is possible.
The expected start date for this position is as soon as possible.
A successful candidate will have a good work ethic, be a self-starter, exercise strong judgment, have an entrepreneurial spirit, and possess the ability to work independently. Most importantly, the candidate must demonstrate a knowledge and passion for FIRE’s mission and an ability to articulate that passion in a way that will make others enthusiastic about our cause.

Salary and Compensation
Starting salary is negotiable and depends upon experience and education level. FIRE conducts periodic evaluations where employees may receive raises or bonuses for outstanding and excellent work.
