Job Description
The Senior Internal Auditor ensures successful and timely completion of assigned audit engagements, from start to finish inclusion of preplanning and wrap up activities. Applies risk and control concepts to scenarios encountered and identifies any potential issues. Communicates identified issues with the Director of Internal Audit and Executive Management. CPA, CIA or CFE preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

BS Degree with major in accounting, finance or related field with five (5) years of experience. Accounting/auditing certification such as CPA, CIA, CFE.

Independent work planning, project management and time management skills.

Strong interpersonal, communication and conceptual skills necessary with the ability to convey pertinent information effectively and comprehensively; and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Senior Internal Auditor Principal Responsibilities:

Performs financial, operational, information systems, and compliance audit assignments.

Assists Director of Internal Audit in overseeing Federal, New York State and New Jersey funder audits. This includes responding to all funder requests, reviewing documents prior to submission to the funder’s auditor.

Trains internal audit staff; mentors internal audit and other VOA-GNY staff.

Assesses the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, compliance with laws and regulations, funder requirements and applicable policies and procedures; and evaluates efficiency and effectiveness of operations.

Makes recommendations and drafts audit reports.

Conducts and monitors follow-up on status actions taken on said identified issues and produces related management reports.

Perform other related duties as requested.
