We are looking for an experienced Grant Writer (52518) to join our Organizational Services Development team in Los Angeles.

Our mission is to advocate for civil rights, provide legal services, and education and build coalitions to positively influence and impact Asian Pacific Americans and to create a more equitable and harmonious society. We serve more than 15,000 individuals and organizations every year, focusing on the most vulnerable members of Asian American and NHPI communities while also building a strong voice for civil rights and social justice. With our Advancing Justice affiliates in Atlanta, Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C., we enrich, enhance, and serve our communities across the country.
Our Development Team supports organization-wide fundraising through institutional, individual, event, and in-kind donations and grants, raising the organization's $10 million+ budget each year. We work closely with Executive Leadership and Program staff to support sustainable and strategic programmatic expansion while strengthening the organization's infrastructure.

WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelor’s degree in a related field strongly preferred
Minimum of three (3) years of progressive development experience at nonprofit organizations
Demonstrated track record of securing grants of $100,000+
Strong computer skills in MS Office programs (Knowledge of fundraising software(s) such as Salesforce and Raiser’s Edge a plus)
Bilingual in at least one Asian language strongly preferred (Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Thai, Tagalog or Vietnamese)
Demonstrated sincere commitment to social justice and serving on behalf of low-income, immigrant communities, AANPHI or non-profit environments preferred
Valid driver's license and/or access to alternative means of transportation

ABOUT THE ROLE
Under the direction of the Institutional Giving Director, the Grant Writer works to secure financial support from foundation, government, and corporate grant makers. They are involved with identifying prospects, proposal submissions, grant renewals, grant reporting, and ongoing communications with institutional donors. The Grant Writer works cross-functionally and with the Executive Leadership team to develop and achieve short and long-term development goals for the organization; this position also works with the organization’s strategic partners to identify donor programs, join initiatives, and enhance the organization’s marketability to potential donors. The Grant Writer role sits within Advancing Justice Souther California’s (AJSOCAL) Development and Marketing/Communications Department, and actively collaborates with Grants Management, Individual and Corporate Giving, and Communications within this department. This position is not covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Your day-to-day typically includes:
Identify, secure, and renew foundation, government, and corporate grant funding
Review, recommend and implement application strategies for all government and private RFP solicitations
Build and maintain expert knowledge of AJSOCAL's programs and funding landscape for AJSOCAL program areas
Lead writing, preparation, and submission of letters of inquiry and proposals and reports, including drafting persuasive and engaging program/case statements
Lead coordination with program staff, Communications and Finance staff on developing accurate grant budgets for submission
Develop programming with the CEO and senior staff in conjunction with short and long term strategic goals for funding programs;
Provide support for individual giving and event campaigns as necessary
Quality products and timely submissions
Attend donor bidder’s conferences and workshops as necessary
Maintain accurate and complete grant records in fundraising software and other databases
Provide regular updates of grant and contract activity, deadlines, and outcomes
Develop opportunities to enhance AJSOCAL’s marketability by establishing strong foundation, corporate, law firm and individual relationships
Coordinate with Advancing Justice national affiliates on donor programs and joint initiatives
Partner with board on fundraising prospects and relationships, and provide regular Board reports
Work with other Development staff on organizational fundraising events, online giving, communications, and other Development-related activities
