  Job Description

Senior Manager, Learning and Development Full Time, Glen Rock, PA:

Penn-Mar Human Services (PMHS), a non-profit Organization dedicated to 'Transforming Life Into Living!' for Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, is seeking a Senior Manager of Learning & Development (L&D). Reporting to the Senior Director of Human Resources, the Senior Manager of L&D will be responsible for assessing organization-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identify and arrange for suitable training solutions for employees. This position actively searches, creatively designs and implements effective methods to educate, develop, and enhance the performance and engagement of employees.

Essential Functions:

  • Directs the needs assessment for learning and employee development to enhance the effectiveness of employee performance in achieving the goals of Penn-Mar.
  • Identifies and incorporates best practices in learning and development into program plans.
  • Provides a broad range of consultative services to various levels of employees regarding employee and leadership development and employee engagement.
  • Leads certification and credentialing programs and processes including the Direct Support Professional career ladder initiative.
  • Designs learning programs for leadership, management and employees including developing learning activities, audio-visual materials, instructor guides and lesson plans.
  • Reviews evaluations of training courses, objectives and employee performance.
  • Consults with management on learning strategy and employee development and retention.
  • Leads and delivers employee and leadership training and learning programs.
  • Provides guidance in strategy development and execution.
  • Supervises Training Coordinator directly and helps coordinate Penn-Mar Trainers.
  • Facilitates talent management processes including succession and development planning.


Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, education or related.
  • 3-5 years of experience in facilitating training, teaching or coaching programs.
  • 3-5 years of experience leading projects, teams or processes.
  • Experience in continuous improvement and process innovation.
  • Presentation or public speaking experience.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work may vary but are generally Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Some night and weekend work may be required.
