Overview of Department:
The Registrar's Office works to ensure the policies and procedures of The Phillips Collection with regard to the acquisition management, and disposition of the works in the collection and works on loan are adhered to.
This intern will have the opportunity to work with each staff member in the Registrar’s Office on a variety of upcoming exhibitions, acquisitions, loaned works, and databases. The internship will provide an overview of museum collection management:
• Object acquisition
• Loans management
• Collection care
• Object packing and logistics
• Exhibition installation
• Location control
• Indemnity and Insurance
Projected Learning Outcomes:
Gain practical experience in museum collection management.
• Develop working knowledge of collection database MIMSY.
• Learn standards and best practices in regards to object movement, both within and outside the museum.
• Acquire knowledge about current legalities inherent to rights and reproductions.
