Overview of Department: The Marketing and Communications Department oversees all internal and external communications surrounding the museum’s exhibitions, programs, events, partnerships, announcements, and milestones. This includes conducting social media, creating partnerships and paid advertisements, writing press releases and other press materials, conducting media outreach, creating museum collateral, graphic design, and web design and content.
Internship Project: The purpose of the internship program is to offer students and recent graduates meaningful work, educational experiences, and real-life practice in their fields of academic study and/or interest. The intern will have responsibilities related to media relations (writing and editing press releases and compiling other press materials, researching press contacts, updating community calendars with information about Phillips programming), marketing (researching new audiences and developing creative promotions for upcoming exhibitions featuring global themes and contemporary issues, editorial work (editing calendars, wall text, other collateral), graphic design (producing institutional and exhibition-related collateral), digital content (creating content for social media, the blog, and the website), and more.
