The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars seeks a visionary Vice President of Development (VP) to strategically advance significant, sustainable growth in the Center’s unrestricted revenues, supporting the Wilson Center’s mission to be the leading institution for in-depth research and open dialogue to inform actionable ideas on global issues.
Chartered by Congress in 1968, the Woodrow Wilson Center is “a living memorial”, building a bridge between the worlds of academia and public policy to inform and develop solutions to the nation’s problems and challenges. Through public meetings and events, broadcast and social media, publications in print and online, and a wide range of outreach activities, the Wilson Center is engaged in the global dialogue of ideas.
Headquartered in Washington, DC, the Center is governed by a 17-member, presidentially appointed Board of Trustees. The Center’s FY2018 total budget is $27M, including $4.5M in unrestricted contributions raised by a Development Team of 6. Reporting to the COO and working closely with Board and Executive leadership, the VP is responsible for growing and sustaining the Center’s funding, building innovative philanthropic strategies, and evaluating and reporting on the department’s progress.
