The Aspen Institute is an educational and policy studies organization based in Washington, DC. Its mission is to foster leadership based on enduring values and to provide a nonpartisan venue for dealing with critical issues. The Institute has campuses in Aspen, Colorado, and on the Wye River on Marylandâ€™s Eastern Shore. It also maintains offices in New York City and has an international network of partners.
The objectives of the Communications Department are to increase engagement with and enhance the reputation of the Aspen Institute brand, promote the work of individual Institute programs to help them reach their target audiences and achieve specific missions, and serve as a collaborative partner who recommends and executes strategic communications approaches. The department oversees all external communications including the Institute website, social media, media relations, digital editorial content, video, graphic design and print publications.
The Senior Associate, Media Relations conducts media relations, media pitching, and media partnership development activities on behalf of the Institute and its many programs. The position also contributes significantly to developing media engagement strategies, and manages media operations and media outreach for Institute programs and fellowship networks.
