Song of the Morning is a very special place that recently celebrated its 50th anniversary as a haven of peace and a center of spiritual community. Located alongside the Pigeon River in the beautiful North Woods of Michigan, and steeped in a long tradition of authentic yogic teachings, Song of the Morning can be a dream come true for the right soul wishing to live a simple, natural, and spiritually centered life of meaningful service.
Our Karma Yoga Work Exchange Program is suitable for anyone who is willing to serve and wishes to experience life at a rustic yoga retreat for at least a month to as long as a year. We have been welcoming work exchange volunteers to Song of the Morning for many, many years, and it has often proven to be a profound and even transformative experience where one immerses in a daily life of service, meditation, devotion, nature, and life in a conscious community of spiritually minded lovers of Divine Truth.
Service could be general (housekeeping & maintenance, etc.) or specific (garden, kitchen, intern, etc.) depending on need, aptitude, and interest. Please click the link provided to learn more, and to apply!
Karma yoga work exchange volunteers are not paid, however you are amply rewarded with a spiritually rich and fulfilling lifestyle, which includes room, board, and delicious vegetarian food that you yourself can have a hand in growing, harvesting, and cooking. Living and serving at Song of the Morning means a community-centered life surrounded by nature, alongside a beautiful river, with meditation and devotion at the heart of it all. Our aim is to live by the highest ideals of ancient and authentic Yoga, which for thousands of years has shown us the way towards balancing heart, mind, body, and spirit. Song of the Morning is a spiritualized environment where for 50 years folks have been meditating, singing, praying, and gathering for spiritual refreshment and relaxation - and that spiritually supportive environment is felt by all who come. We are a conscious community comprised of staff, volunteers, and devotees living on-site or nearby, and we welcome in guests on retreat, meaning the daily opportunities for connection are many and varied, including interesting conversations with interesting people, group dinners, community potlucks, book clubs, and quiet time to connect with yourself in nature or during nightly meditations and Sunday services.
This is a live-work position with a minimum one-month intention, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, appropriate for any sincere heart willing to serve and wishing to grow. Room and board is provided. Rooms are small but they are private, and the delicious vegetarian food (much of which comes from our organic garden) is heavenly.
If you desire an immersive experience in nature, spirit, simplicity and service, please apply at the link provided and you just might find - as others have - that Song of the Morning Yoga Retreat is place where you are nourished mind, body, and soul.
