Center for Community Alternatives (CCA) is a leader in the field of community- based alternatives to incarceration. CCA promotes re-integrative justice and a reduced reliance on incarceration through advocacy, services and public policy development in pursuit of civil and human rights.
Center for Community Alternatives (CCA), provide direct services to communities in New York City, Syracuse, and Rochester, working with approximately 2,500 youth and adults annually who would otherwise be incarcerated.
Center for Community Alternatives is hiring two Statewide Organizers who will be responsible for building a base of campaign members and leaders, coordinating coalitions, and playing a key role in our advocacy, policy, and campaign efforts to dismantle systems of mass incarceration and mass criminalization. Current advocacy includes bail reform, youth justice, and parole justice efforts with the goal of decarcerating jails and prisons and winning real investments in community-based resources and services.
We welcome applications from candidates based in Rochester, Syracuse, or New York City as CCA has offices in these three locations. Base-building efforts will begin with participants in our direct service work as we develop campaign leadership by people who have been directly affected by the issues we take on.
We are looking for candidates who have experience working on grassroots campaigns, have strong base-building and leadership development skills, and are committed to building power to win transformative policy and legislative change. Ideal candidates are strategic thinkers and campaign planners, passionate, effective and collaborative.
The Statewide Organizer(s) will report to the Director of Advocacy and Organizing and will work closely with other members of the advocacy staff.
These are full-time positions that will require regular travel to Albany and other parts of New York State, including occasional overnight travel. Candidates must also be available to work some evenings and weekends.
