About the Position
This position is a pilot project funded by a grant through Indian Health Service (IHS). The Aftercare Mental Health Therapist position will provide direct services to adolescents exiting an inpatient chemical dependency program and transitioning back to their home communities. This position meets the requirements for several student loan forgiveness and repayment programs via external organizations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Provides mental health counseling and psychoeducation for male and female adolescents and their families/guardians individual and group therapy.
Work involves youth transitions from an inpatient co-occurring disorder treatment program back into his/her home community.
Travels to and within a designated geographical area within 160 miles of Spokane Valley on a regular basis.
Develops and adheres to treatment plans through collaboration with the youth.
Follows and actively participates in the clinical staffing of youth throughout his/her residential program.
Collaborates with identified outpatient providers (i.e., psychiatrists, chemical dependency counselors, etc.)
Ensures the highest standard of fidelity to treatment models is maintained.
Ensures the highest level of confidentiality is maintained with respect to client information, files, and charts.
Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of mental health treatment activities on an ongoing basis.
Familiarity with billing practices (i.e., CPT codes, EMR software, etc.)

This position does not require direct supervision responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience:
Masters level therapist licensures accepted; LICSW, MSW, LM (LMHC) and LF (LMFT) with independent counseling experience in one or more of the following areas: chemically dependency adolescents and their families, inpatient and/or outpatient mental health counseling and/or chemical dependency counseling. Practice involves both individual and group therapy. Experience working with Co-Occurring Disorders and Native American Indian population preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:
The candidate will be required to travel frequently to various in/out of State locations to provide Aftercare MH clinical counseling services, assist in patient coordination of care, resource development and to meet with various agencies/tribes, etc. Some overnight stay is projected and anticipated.
