ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work as a team player to create and maintain a safe and healthy environment.
Demonstrate the knowledge, competency and skills necessary to meet the needs of clients as well as the administrative skills that meet/exceed best practice standards.
Promote, develop and maintain a safe environment for clients to enhance their ability to grow physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually.
Provide support services around various developmental challenges. Ensure appropriate referrals are made to the proper professionals when deemed necessary.
Provide guidance and support around education and other activities to clients to promote positive social skills, independent living skills and healthy peer relationships.
Conduct intake, interviews, screenings and assessments of new and current clients.
Provide individual and group therapy utilizing strength based techniques.
Provide crises intervention, as needed.
Document therapy-related activities in accordance with required procedures and ensure confidentiality of all client services.
Coordinate care of clients with referral sources, family, peers and other organizations involved in the client’s care to advance the effectiveness of the treatment plan.
Regularly assess the client’s needs and progress to develop and modify individual service plans accordingly.
Work closely with other staff in developing a strengths-based behavioral level system designed to reinforce healthy behaviors and reduce negative behaviors.
Attend meetings and participate in committees and provide staff training, as requested by the Youth Home Program Director.
Demonstrate good judgment, independent thinking, adaptation to new duties and flexibility in a changing environment.
Participation in professional/cultural development activities.
Maintain confidentiality in all record keeping and reporting.
Demonstrates strong interpersonal communication skills.
May require occasional weeknight and/or weekend hours.
Other duties, as assigned.
Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work or related field;
Minimum of three years’ experience with providing counseling services or working in a mental health setting providing support to clients;
Bachelor’s Degree in psychology or related behavioral science discipline;
Minimum of five years’ experience with providing counselling services or working in a mental health setting providing support to clients;
Possess knowledge of the principles and practices of the provision of diagnosis and treatment planning;
Experience working with diverse ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds;
Strong client advocacy and empowerment skills;
Conflict management and resolution skills as they apply to client care issues;
Knowledge of community resources and referral agencies;
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills;
Knowledge of computers, internet and educationally related software programs.
Pass a criminal history/background check.
Possess a valid Washington State driver’s license.
1st Aid/CPR training.
