The Santa Barbara Museum of Art, a leading West Coast art museum, presents internationally-recognized collections and exhibitions and a broad array of cultural and educational activities. This position reports to the Director of IT and supports management of the Archives as well as the Collections Department. This position will assist Registration with data clean-up projects relating to the permanent collection using TMS, assist IT with online publication of exhibition history, and prepare digitized material for online publication. While digitizing a variety of archival material, this role will organize and make digitized material easily accessible and searchable for internal use.
BA degree, preferably in Art History, History, or Museum Studies, or related field is desired, at least one year digitization and data entry experience is required, and Museum experience strongly preferred. Proficiency with flatbed scanners, slide scanners, and digital cameras is required. Familiarly with a collections database, preferably TMS, and Photoshop experience is ideal. Excellent attention to detail is essential, while an ability to work independently with little supervision is necessary.
