Full-time & Part-time – Serving Santa Clara County
New Urban Forest Program Manager opportunities are now open with Our City Forest (OCF). A Program Manager is responsible for overseeing one or more OCF community-based field programs. These programs include tree planting, tree care, watering, fleet, and lawn conversions. Program Managers will train and oversee a team of full-time interns ranging from 3 to 8 members who are responsible for carrying out the projects.
An overarching goal of OCF is to increase community capacity for the development and management of the urban forest. This is achieved by developing ongoing planting and training opportunities in which to engage thousands of community members every year.
A strong candidate for this position will be a trained urban forester who enjoys working with people, is familiar with an extensive palette of tree and plant species, and possesses strong management skills. Because many OCF projects are conducted in partnership with local municipalities and school districts, experience working with agencies as well as homeowners is ideal. While someone with a current arborist certification is the strongest candidate, OCF is open to interviewing candidates eligible to take the arborist exam within 3 months of hiring.
Organization Overview: Our City Forest (OCF) is a nonprofit serving San José and communities throughout Santa Clara County since 1994. OCF provides a broad range of urban forestry services and award-winning programs include community planting projects, a cultivation nursery, tree care services, lawn conversions, education workshops, volunteer training, and green jobs service and training opportunities.
