The Teacher Professional Development team creates learning experiences, professional learning communities, and resources for preK-12 teachers. We focus on a learner-centered, inquiry-based approach to science learning. Our work helps teachers shift toward this approach, as well as supports NGSS implementation. As a part-time educator, you will learn and co-facilitate our existing professional learning workshops for K-12 teachers, both onsite at the Academy and offsite at local schools.
Workshops range from 2-6 hours in length and cover topics such as using science notebooks for meaning-making; using anchoring phenomena to drive learning; and understanding the levels of inquiry.
This part-time position is 24 hours per week, scheduled as three full work days. You must be available to work at least one Saturday per month to facilitate professional learning workshops at the Academy.
We can work with you to plan the other work days in a way that accommodates your schedule, as long as two work days are consistent every week. The Teacher Educator reports to the Senior Manager of Teacher Professional Development. This temporary, year-round position is funded through the end of June 2019, with possibility of extension.
