Housing Connections Coach
Mid-City Youth Center
Status: Full-time, $36,000/year plus excellent benefits
Specific Responsibilities: Accountable to the Program Manager to provide comprehensive trauma-informed peer support services as part of the STARS (Striving Together, Achieving and Reaching for Success) program, including, but not limited to, working in collaboration with other community partners and agencies providing services to youth and young adults who have experienced human trafficking. Housing Connections Coach is responsible for screening possible intakes, providing intake assessments, creating a service plan in partnership with the youth, completing the TAY-VI-SPDAT, being an advocate and accompanying youth to housing related appointments (i.e. housing program orientations/interviews and meeting with landlords), facilitating appropriate referrals, linking to onsite therapy and Economic Empowerment Program, and assisting in the day-to-day service provision of the program.
Other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in social work or related field or related field and 2 years’ experience or 6 years’ experience, preferably working with high risk adolescents who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation and/or human trafficking. Working knowledge of local housing resources and the coordinated entry system a plus. Experience in crisis intervention, group facilitation, documentation, and case management preferred. Must possess excellent oral and written skills; work well autonomously and with multi-disciplinary team. Able to work in a diverse setting with people of all backgrounds, culture, and sexual orientation. Familiarity probation and social service systems. Willingness to develop or possess working knowledge of trauma-informed care and dual diagnosis treatment; experience working in trauma-informed and dual diagnosis programs preferred. Must be computer literate in Microsoft Outlooks, Word and Excel. Valid CA driver’s license, good driving record and willingness to use own properly insured vehicle on the job (mileage reimbursed). Maintain certification in CPR and First Aid. Employment is subject to required clearances which include tuberculosis test, fingerprinting, background checks, and drug testing. Available to work some evenings and weekends.
