Youth Advocate (Full Time)
THP Plus Program
Status: Full-Time, $36,000/year plus excellent benefits
Specific Responsibilities: Accountable to Program Manager and Division Director. Provide case management and independent living skills development to current foster youth transitioning into an independent living situation. Assist youth in developing skills, obtaining employment, and developing life plans that will support independence.
Youth Advocate will work closely with caseload of youth in a home environment. Youth Advocate hours are in the afternoon/early evening, Monday-Friday, 40hrs/week.
Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Must have ability to bend at the waist, kneel or crouch. Must have ability to lift and carry 30+ pounds—lifting furniture, mattresses, boxes and other items required for youth to move in and out of apartments is a must for this position. Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree is required; preferred in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or another closely related field. Prefer two years’ experience working or equivalent knowledge with adolescents/Transitional Age Youth, parenting youth, and/or foster youth. Experience in crisis intervention, case management, youth participation and youth development and/or foster youth would be valued. Able to work in a very diverse setting with people of all backgrounds, culture and orientation. Must possess a professional attitude and good oral and written communication skills, computer literate. Well organized, detail oriented, and ability to work with minimum supervision and frequent interruptions, while maintaining a professional demeanor at all times. Have the ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize tasks. Must be willing to develop or possess working knowledge of trauma-informed care. Must maintain CPR/First-Aid Certificate. Must have good driving record and willing to use own, properly insured, reliable vehicle for the job (mileage reimbursed). Must be willing and able to drive agency van (15 passenger) in order to move youth in and out of apartments.
Employment subject to clearances, including Community Care Licensing requirements; background finger printing checks, driving record, medical clearances, Tuberculosis testing, and drug testing.
