Juvenile Recovery Specialist
Multiple positions open (full-time and part-time available) - County wide
Status: Full-time, $36,000/year plus excellent benefits
Specific Responsibilities: The Juvenile Recovery Specialist (JRS) will report to the BridgeWays Program Manager, Clinical Lead, and Director of Services. Perform comprehensive alcohol and drug assessments for youth and their families. Provide program-based alcohol and drug counseling, crisis intervention, family counseling and referrals to appropriate treatment and recovery services. Develop a strong working collaboration with San Diego County Probation Department. Facilitate multiple substance abuse and other topic groups at East Mesa Juvenile Detention Facility, and participate in all multi-disciplinary team meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, CCAPP Alcohol and Drug certification preferred and two years’ experience in working with adolescents, in an alcohol or other drug setting or equivalent knowledge and experience. Must have or be willing to obtain Alcohol and Drug certification, being registered within 6 months of hiring and gain certification within 5 years of hiring. Experience in crisis intervention. Familiar with the Juvenile Justice/Probation Systems. Ability to pass Juvenile Probation clearance. Demonstrated ability to work with multi-disciplinary team. Good driving record and willing to use own, properly insured vehicle for the job (mileage reimbursement available). Able to obtain CPR/First-Aid Certificate. Willing to go through clearance process including TB and drug testing. (Hire is pending the results of appropriate clearances). Familiarity with all areas in the San Diego County area. Must be willing to develop or possess working knowledge of trauma-informed care and dual diagnosis treatment; experience working in trauma-informed and dual diagnosis programs preferred.
Physical Requirements:Must have ability to bend at the waist, kneel or crouch to assist students. Must have ability to hear and speak to exchange information and make presentations. Must have ability to lift and carry 20 pounds--lifting books, materials and equipment to execute lessons and presentations. Seeing to read, prepare and review a variety of activities and to monitor youth activities. Sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Walking extended lengths to move around sites. Potential exposure to physical injury from aggressive behavior. Must attend trainings and abide by Probation Departments’ CORI/CLETS and PREA; as well as, maintain PCMS documentation requirements. Must be available to work weekends and evenings as assigned by supervisor and/or as needed. Employment subject to clearances (including Probation Department), which include fingerprinting, background checks, TB test, driving record and drug testing. Must have reliable vehicle, relevant auto insurance, a clean driving record, and willing to drive own, properly insured vehicle for job related tasks.
Compensation and Benefits: Salary commensurate with experience and education. Bilingual pay available.
