  Job Description


  1. The development, implementation, and evaluation of an integrated treatment approach for youth and families with co-occurring psychiatric and substance disorders and quality trauma informed youth programs that adhere to and uphold the rigorous standards of San Diego Youth Services as mandated by its mission, purpose, guiding principles and standards of quality.
  2. Primary role will include the provision of case management and supportive/rehabilitative services to enrolled youth/family, as applicable.
  3. Provide assertive outreach services to local homeless shelters and drop-in centers.  Screen youth/families as appropriate for the clinic.  Provide outreach services to youth while waiting for counseling services
  4. Must be flexible to provide services in-home, at satellite offices, in shelter environments and in the community as needed.
  5. Welcome and support volunteers in the organization and assist them in accomplishing their services whenever applicable.
  6. Participate in treatment meetings and service planning.
  7. Maintain minimum productivity standards.
  8. Attend all required agency trainings and meetings.
  9. Maintain documentation and reporting on all youth/families in a timely manner.
  10. Maintain confidentiality and privacy standards of service partner protected health information and other applicable information and material in accordance to agency and center policies, and applicable regulations and laws, including HIPAA.
  11. Maintain warm, welcoming office grounds and facilities.
  12. Maintain a working knowledge of MIS equipment.
  13. Other duties as required.

Physical Requirements:  Must have ability to bend at the waist, kneel or crouch to assist youth. Must have ability to hear and speak to exchange information and make presentations. Must have ability to lift and carry 20 pounds--lifting books, materials and equipment to execute groups and presentations. Seeing to read, prepare and review a variety of activities and to monitor youth activities. Sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Potential exposure to physical injury from aggressive behavior.

QualificationsMust have direct experience as a consumer or care-giver of a consumer of children’s mental health services, the juvenile justice system, or Special Education.  Must have a Bachelor’s degree or four years of supervised experience with children and adolescents including the documentation of services following a standard protocol. Experience working with former foster youth and/or runaway and homeless youth preferred. Must be able to pass clearance for working with Minors.  Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.  Committed to cultural awareness. Must have good driving record and willing to use own, properly insured vehicle for the job. Must be willing to develop or possess working knowledge of trauma-informed care and dual diagnosis treatment; experience working in trauma-informed and dual diagnosis programs preferred.
