Volunteer Coordinator & Recruitment Specialist

Part time, 25 hrs/week, $16.83 per hr + excellent benefits
Specific Responsibilities: Accountable to the RISE & Volunteer Engagement Lead for management of agency Volunteer Engagement and HR recruitment and retention. In conjunction with Program Managers, ensure that programs have adequate volunteers and interns to the degree of competence needed for adequate service delivery to include development and monitoring of roles, job descriptions, and support for supervision. Recruit and coordinate documents and paperwork for international interns. Maintain and update the volunteer manual and other volunteer materials. Provide monthly New Volunteer Orientation to new and prospective volunteers. Conduct regular volunteer need assessments and adjust recruitment and retention strategies to meet these needs. Maintain volunteer information database.
Develop and maintain good working partnerships with the community to coordinate and support group volunteer projects (i.e. Hands-On San Diego, Junior League, fraternities/sororities, etc.). Establish and maintain linkage relationships with agencies, schools, organizations, civic and community groups for the purpose of recruiting and placing volunteers. Serve on appropriate volunteer groups. Provide community presentations.
Manage the recruitment of personnel, which includes recruitment activities such as attending applicable employment fairs, identifying referral resources, fielding employment inquiries, ensuring the announcements of open positions and the currency of job descriptions, etc. Manage web-based recruitment platform and support professional development efforts for staff and volunteers.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in human services or related field or equivalent conceptual knowledge. Knowledge or experience in design and operations of volunteer programs. Must have initiative and good organizational skills. Community/public relations skills. Demonstrated leadership and management ability. Good communication skills, verbal and written, including the ability to write and edit manuals. Computer literacy necessary, knowledge of Excel, Publisher, and data bases helpful. Must be available one Saturday per month for volunteer orientation and other occasional night and weekend events. Must complete background check, drug test, and tb test. Must have good driving record and willing to use own, properly insured vehicle for the job.
