Benedictine seeks a dynamic fiscal services professional to provide executive leadership as the Chief Financial Officer. This position offers the opportunity to join the senior executive leadership team that guides the strategic direction of this highly respected nonprofit organization on Maryland’s eastern shore that has been helping individuals with disabilities, for 60 years with educational, residential, vocational and day services.
Benedictine’s mission is to help children and adults with developmental disabilities live meaningful, productive, personally satisfying, well-supported lives in order to achieve their greatest potential. Today, Benedictine provides more than 200 children and adults with special education, vocational training, supported employment and home-like residential living options on our main campus and in the community.

The Benedictine School is a non-graded, twelve-month residential and day school for males and females, ages 5-21, grades K-12 with mild-severe intellectual disabilities, multiple disabilities, and autism.
The Benedictine Open Community/Adult Services Program supports persons ages 22 and over with developmental disabilities. Participants explore vocational interests, engage in job development, and build skills in industries of choice within a supportive environment designed to assist in finding competitive employment in the community or in volunteer positions. Community living and independent living skills are also provided, and our beautifully decorated group homes provide a comfortable home environment in attractive and safe neighborhoods for those participating in our adult residential program. Our adult program is licensed by the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) and partners with the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS).
The Benedictine Foundation facilitates giving from a wide variety of individuals, foundations and corporate supporters. Through its Annual Fund, special events like Spring Benefit and Chrome City Ride, and other philanthropic initiatives, the Foundation raises funds and seeks grants that support the Benedictine School, the Adult Services, and the individuals served by these programs. The Foundation is governed by the volunteer Board of Trustees and has achieved the Guidestar Gold seal.
Benedictine is governed by an 18-member board of directors. The organization’s current budget is approximately $25M. The Benedictine Foundation budget is approximately $2.5M. The senior management team includes the Executive Director, the Chief Financial Officer, the Education Director, the Director of Adult Services, the Director of Human Resources, and the Foundation Director. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for all financial matters of Benedictine and its affiliate organizations. The CFO will support the policies and direction of the Executive Director and the organization. In addition s/he will partner with the senior leadership and the board of directors to develop and implement strategies across the organization. The CFO will oversee all financial compliance with funding agencies and donor requirements. S/he will supervise all accounting and finance activities and staff, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board, and other regulatory and advisory organizations, in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate within state funded programs for the disabled.
The Chief Financial Officer’s primary responsibility is to provide leadership to the finance and accounting team, as well as Operations, IT, and HR. The CFO is also responsible for the management and fiscal sustainability of Benedictine, The Benedictine School, Adult Programs and Services and the Benedictine Foundation.
