Schedule: Full-time (37.5 hours) Monday - Friday
Position Details: This is a union represented, hourly (non exempt) position.
Location: This position is based out of PPCW's Flanagan Regional Service Center in Northeast Portland, OR but will work remotely for the foreseeable future.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED required.
Certification as Professional Coder (CPC) required.
Certification as Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA); or 3 years auditing experience.
3 years coding training experience.
3 years’ experience working with electronic health records and payment management systems (i.e. NextGen, Epic, Cerner)
Demonstrated ability to effectively work with others.
Knowledge of medical terminology and coding, including ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Windows-based computer and medical practice management billing software required.
Conduct coding audits of billing providers according to PPCW policy (need to create a policy).
Provide feedback, training, and follow-up audits as needed to individual providers according to policy.
Evaluate audit findings in order to create meaningful trainings for providers and Charge Entry staff.
Act as a coding subject-matter expert and provide first-line coding support.
Ensure Coding Guidelines and Compliance Policies are consistently applied in all processes.
Identify and resolve code and documentation issues and analyze trends.
Recommend process improvement and assist with implementation of new services.
Collaborate with Front Office Clinical Assistant Coordinator to develop/revise training material for Charge Entry staff.
Identify potential risk areas and provide recommendations for improvement.
Maintain credentials through continuing education and commitment to professional development.
Ensure timely completion of coding/documentation, denials and questions.
Assist PPCW Leadership with external audits.
Other duties as assigned.
