Position Summary: The Human Resource Specialist, under general direction, will independently act as key contact for employees by providing daily support and performing a variety of personnel and payroll transactions. This role will manage employee information, personnel, payroll, staff recruitment, benefits administration, medical and personal leave, and special projects.
Qualified Candidates will have:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; or five plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PHR certification and/or SHRM-CP preferred, but not required.
Proven knowledge and familiarity with Human Resources concepts, practices, procedures and basic employment laws.
Strong organization and attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal relationship-building and people skills.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.
Intermediate to Advanced skills in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to solve problems and use discretion in handling a variety of sensitive, confidential matters.
Administrative: Perform day-to-day operations of the human resources department.
Meet regularly with Director to review schedules, coordinate meetings, interviews and prioritize projects.
Communicate clearly and effectively to staff as needed. Recognizing birthdays, work anniversaries, other accomplishments.
Accept the “hand-off” of initiatives and projects and see through to completion, on a regular basis.
Monitor the ministry HRIS daily, for notifications and necessary approvals and changes.
Reconcile invoices and payroll deduction reports on a monthly/semi-monthly basis.
Responsible for the maintenance and distribution of HFTH’s Confidential Employee list and other internal documentation.
New Employment: Partner with Director and Hiring Managers to assess and select the best talent for HFTH.
Recruitment: Create and manage Job Postings, post to multiple job boards and networks; investigate other viable resources to promote career opportunities and solicit qualified applicants. Review applicant’s resumes, screen applicants, coordinate interviews, perform reference checks.
Prior to start, prepare required materials and paperwork for orientation, assure office equipment and supplies are in place; notify with HFTH Staff of new employee.
Conduct orientation, introductions to staff, tours of suite and the Hope Center.
Prepare benefit information packet and communicate benefit plans and options, clearly stating deadlines and enrollment guidelines. Process enrollment into elected benefits.
Coordinate Departmental Orientations with each Department Manager at HFTH.
Payroll: Administer payroll, semi-monthly, perform time-sensitive payroll-related activities for the ministry and serve as first contact for staff on payroll issues.
Benefits: Liaison for all benefit providers on behalf of employees; new enrollment, termination, continuation, update contact information, changes in eligibility, life events, etc.
Independent Contracts: Help facilitate the ministry’s Independent Contractor Agreements, using HFTH policies and procedures.
Open Enrollment: Primary organizer for annual open enrollment including coordination, presentation and enrollment; ensure staff is accurately enrolled in benefit plans according to enrollment forms; accurate and timely processing of change requests.
EOY Reports: Assist Director with mandatory IRS reporting; meeting strict notification and filing deadlines.
Character/Spiritual Qualities: Possess a desire to actively minister to others within and outside the ministry; whether they are vendors, constituents, partners or volunteers. As such, each team member is called to actively impact others with Biblical principles for Christian living through sharing in prayer, scripture references, Biblical illustrations, and personal testimony.
