SEPA Mujer, Inc., a non-profit organization, seeks an experienced (or paralegal degree completed) paralegal for their legal assistance program. The ideal candidate is hardworking, quick learner, compassionate, able to work with victims of crime. Excellent work environment. Must be self-motivated, trustworthy, and able to complete work independently. Must have experience in Immigration Law and familiar with computer case management program. Knowledge of non-immigrant visas and excellent communication skills required, fluency in Spanish a must. Preferred experience with U Visa, T Visa, VAWA, and Asylum based on gender violence, adjustment of status, naturalization, and consular processing. The ideal candidate will also assist our staff attorney with non-legal tasks such as orientation presentations, tabling, and screenings.
Duties and responsibilities:
Handling high call volume and client communication
Drafting applications for relief and interacting with clients
Have the flexibility to handle an array of projects as the need arises, and be able to multi-task
Be very organized and capable of tracking his or her work carefully
Be reliable and professional
Be proficient in Microsoft Programs (Excel, Word, and Access)
Must work cooperatively with all staff in legal assistance program and organization
Supportive and positive attitude and a willingness to learn Immigration law and procedure
Must have reliable transportation.
