About the Organization: Partners In Care Maryland, Inc. (PIC) is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to empower older adults to age in community through a unique culture of service exchange. Established in 1993, PIC provides neighborly, niche services such as transportation, handyman repairs, and case management to ensure that our older neighbors continue to age in their own homes safely, independently, and with dignity. This position empowers older adults to remain independent in their own homes by:
Providing specialized transportation services to non-emergency medical appointments, to pick up prescriptions and groceries, and other day-to-day activities.
Assisting passengers in obtaining the most appropriate and cost effective mobility services which meet their individual needs.
Serving as an ombudsman to assist community residents in obtaining needed transportation services, including rural areas not presently served by a transit agency.
Working in partnership with Anne Arundel County Department of Aging, Maryland Transit Administration, and a broad range of human service and community agencies to meet the mobility needs of older adults in the region.
Advocating for funding to meet the critical senior transportation needs of the region.
Responsibilities: Manage the Volunteer Rides program, interact with other site coordinators and program managers to ensure consistency of procedures across sites, oversee the database, and maintain an established program that is operated in the spirit and culture of the PIC as a time exchange that helps older adults to remain independent in their own homes. Coordinate the matching of transportation services; assure the optimum use of program resources to benefit all members. Develop and manage strategies for recruitment, training, and retention of volunteer drivers and matchmakers. Monitor and report on member involvement and participation in volunteer transportation activities of Partners In Care and provide relevant management information. Update database as required, create and maintain procedures manuals for all program processes. Attend and present at external organizational meetings and internal staff meetings, as necessary, to carry out the mission of the program and to aid in program development. Attend training to develop relevant knowledge and skills. Adhere to the procedures of Partners In Care, including health, safety and anti-discrimination policies.
