The mission of the Wild Salmon Center (WSC) is to promote the conservation and sustainable use of wild salmon ecosystems across the Pacific Rim. Wild Salmon Center is an international organization with headquarters in Portland, Oregon.
The Washington Coast Senior Program Manager leads Wild Salmon Center’s conservation program on the Washington Coast and Olympic Peninsula. This program is dedicated to the conservation of wild salmon and steelhead on the Olympic Peninsula through the strategic protection and restoration of critical habitats, and the science-based management of regional fisheries. The person in this position must possess natural partnership building and communication skills, and have an ability to collaborate with and influence community members, fishermen, and government and tribal representatives.
The individual in this position is responsible for developing, funding, and implementing multi-year regional initiatives that protect wild salmon/steelhead habitat, and improve the health of wild fish populations. This requires the ability to define bold, yet achievable, long-term conservation goals; maintain the relationships and partnerships necessary to achieve them; and implement the day to day management activities necessary to build and advance the program.
The position requires a thorough understanding of the habitat needs of wild salmon and steelhead, the factors limiting productivity of individual stocks, and the governance structures and policies that drive land use and fisheries management decisions.
Responsibilities. This position will:
A Bachelor’s degree in natural resource science or a related field.
Hours of Work
This is a full-time regular position that is exempt from federal Fair Labor Standard Act overtime rules.
This full-time position will be located on the Olympic Pennisula in Grays, Clallum or Jefferson Counties.
The compensation package includes a competitive salary and excellent fringe benefits including vacation, retirement plan match, medical and dental plan, life insurance and disability coverage. Salary range minimum is $75,000, however the salary offered will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
