Founded in 1979, Trickle Up’s work equips vulnerable populations, specifically refugees, women, and the indigenous, with economic empowerment skills that enable them to become decision-makers in their lives, households, and communities. We support the extreme-poor to graduate out of poverty to self-reliance (The Graduation Approach) by providing coaching and business skills that foster the creation of savings groups, access to credit, and the development and engagement in livelihood activities. Trickle Up partners with local agencies and community-based organizations, non-governmental organizations, global institutions, and governments, and relies on collecting and building evidence-based data that quantifies our outcomes and impact.
Since 2013, Trickle Up has partnered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the UN agency with a global mandate for the protection of refugees, and various overseas NGOs. We advise agencies on how to reach the poorest and most vulnerable and integrate the Graduation Approach into their livelihoods programs in order to increase economic self-sufficiency and the resiliency of refugees over the long-term.
Trickle Up seeks a professional to execute and expand our technical assistance initiatives for refugees and host community populations living in extreme poverty. The Technical/Training Specialist will support the design and implementation of training and technical support to build the capacity and technical expertise of NGOs, governments and large institutions to serve refugees through the Graduation Approach. The position will also support the development of new strategic partnerships and provide ongoing support to existing partners. The successful candidate, supervised by the Program Director, will have a strong background in capacity building, curriculum design, and training within the international development and economic strengthening contexts. The candidate will ideally have knowledge of and/or experience working with the Graduation Approach, program design and management, monitoring and evaluation, capacity building, business development, and grant writing and administration.
Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, international development, adult learning, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
Spanish, French, Arabic and/or Portuguese as a second language preferred.
Ability to travel extensively (40-50%) in locations with limited amenities plus a valid passport.
