Permanent Bookkeeper/accountant needed for a modern and substantial Jewish cultural and educational institution, headquartered in Manhattan.
In this highly-diversified position, you will report directly to the Controller, a smart and accessible individual. Among your responsibilities, you will be involved in: Accounts Receivable (billing of membership, creating journal entries, posting payments, collections); Accounts Payable (coding and entering vendor invoices, producing checks, following up on unpaid invoices); Payroll (updating ADP Workforce system, entering salary adjustments, ensuring that funds are in the payroll account to meet liabilities, recording payroll into General Ledger): Bank Reconciliations (standard reconciliation for several accounts, proper recording of interest, dividends, gains/losses into G/L). You must be very comfortable doing a lot of coding of A/P, A/R, payroll, as well as miscellaneous administrative duties.
In order to qualify, you should: be college-educated (a 4-year degree preferred) – with accounting credits; have full-time bookkeeping/accounting experience in a credible organization and have strong technological skills – including advanced Excel. Not-for-Profit Fund Accounting, as well as FUND-EZ and Chaverware are all pluses – but not at all essential.
You will work in a forward-thinking and collaborative environment, offering excellent company benefits - including fully-paid employee health insurance (about 10 K in premiums!), and a flexible and realistic starting salary (to the 50's) – and our client would like to make a quick decision.
Important to note: Employees remain here "forever"!
