Reports to: Executive Director
The Chief Program Officer is responsible for the programmatic success and impact of LINC’s programming. Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Deputy Director, the Chief Program Office ensures the seamless improvement, development, and implementation of our community-based early learning programs, and manages the effectiveness of content and delivery, parent engagement, parent leadership, and community engagement. The role requires an avid program and people manager, equipped to develop our growing team and establish high standards of performance to deliver quality, impactful and replicable programs in communities across New York City. The ideal candidate has ample experience in the creation and delivery of culturally responsive educational programming with a proven track record of success in working with diverse constituents and communities. We are looking for a leader, knowledgeable and passionate about early childhood education and the power of community building--someone who can accelerate LINC’s impact so that every child can benefit from the power of literacy.
Actively elevate and advance the work and mission of LINC
Represent LINC as an expert in early childhood programs that engage families in developmentally appropriate literacy achievement
Develop and execute a plan to further identify partners and develop relationships with communities to enhance public discourse related to early education equity.
Cultivate working relationships with educators, community-based organizations and local non-profits to understand how to better serve our communities
Support and coach key staff in building and maintaining programs and partnerships that maximize impact for our families
Work closely with the impact and evaluation team to ensure monitoring and evaluation frameworks are strategically informing constant and ongoing improvements
Present to the board on Program Progress and Impact
Collaborate with Fundraising, Finance, and Communication teams
Oversee LINC’s community and parent engagement strategies:
Lead the full program team and its leadership to provide direction in goal setting and quality assurance.
Direct LINC’s recruitment and engagement strategies: acquiring families to participate in LINC programs and maintaining relationships with parents
Work with senior management to develop program practices that deeply engage LINC’s communities, families and stakeholders
Keep current with academic literature and recent studies about community-based programs
Be a source of knowledge about early childhood strategies and approaches that support educational achievement
Oversee programs and partnerships with schools, libraries and other community partners that includes communications, recruitment and retention plans
Drive the organization to engage more intentionally in community organizing
Direct the development and implementation of LINC’s programs across NYC:
Manage program content development, production, packaging and delivery.
Serve as lead developer for LINC’s early literacy model that results in a replicable, high-quality curriculum.
Manage program content and delivery team by training and coaching LINC Staff, providing leadership through ongoing high-level management and quality assessment.
Support Managers in the ongoing improvement of delivery of services
Work with fellow directors to develop and achieve yearly program plan and goals
Team Management and Development:
In collaboration with HR, develop and implement a system to evaluate the skill, experience, and professional development needs of all staff; including the set up of a chain of command to manage reporting and communications
Work with HR, to implement best practices in team building development and conflict resolution
Implement a professional development program to address employee experience and skill gaps
Work with staff to develop objective performance measurements across all sites, to ensure consistent, high-quality evaluation and goal setting for all employees
Instill a sense of accountability among team members by modeling tight oversight of individual and organization performance standards
Help to recruit, hire, and oversee training and orientation of all program staff members
Bachelor's Degree required; Masters preferred
10+ years early education program development or related field experience required
Excellent facilitation, and verbal/written communication
Spanish language or an additional language a plus
Ability to work independently and as a member of a diverse team
Experience creating culturally responsive programming with demonstrated success at implementing complex programs across NYC with diverse constituents
Ability to travel throughout all 5 boroughs of NYC
Proven ability to problem solve, navigate ambiguity, and identify potential risks and opportunities.
Humor and Can Do attitude is highly valued
Highly proficient in GSuite and Microsoft suite
Proficiency in Salesforce a plus
