New Destiny Housing Corporation is a citywide not-for-profit that provides permanent housing and services to low-income domestic violence survivors and others at risk of homelessness. New Destiny is seeking a full-time bilingual (English/Spanish) HousingLink Training and Technical Assistance Manager to provide ongoing support to clients and domestic violence advocates at five Family Justice Centers. HousingLink is an “alternatives to shelter” program linking domestic violence survivors with apartments in low-income tax credit (LIHTC) housing and other affordable housing. HousingLink provides skill-building workshops, information about housing options, and technical assistance to domestic violence survivors and their advocates. The qualified candidate will report directly to the HousingLink Director and will be responsible for the following activities:
(1) Conduct Training to DV clients and advocates
(2) Technical Assistance at Family Justice Centers
(3) NYC Housing Updates
A qualified candidate must have extensive knowledge and a strong interest working with New York City housing and rental subsidy programs such as Section 8, LIHTC, LINC and FEPS. The candidate should be comfortable speaking to groups, have experience facilitating group discussion, have excellent organizational skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. S/he must be responsible, reliable, and able to work independently as well as flexible in meeting the needs of clients and program partners and adapting to ongoing program changes.
Requirements: B.A. with 5 years’ work experience or an M.A. with 2 years related work experience. Experience with curriculum building and enhancement with a focus on adult training. Bi-lingual English/Spanish a must.
