  Job Description

New Destiny Housing Corporation is a citywide not-for-profit that provides permanent housing and services to low-income domestic violence survivors and others at risk of homelessness. New Destiny is seeking a full-time bilingual (English/Spanish) HousingLink Training and Technical Assistance Manager to provide ongoing support to clients and domestic violence advocates at five Family Justice Centers. HousingLink is an “alternatives to shelter” program linking domestic violence survivors with apartments in low-income tax credit (LIHTC) housing and other affordable housing. HousingLink provides skill-building workshops, information about housing options, and technical assistance to domestic violence survivors and their advocates. The qualified candidate will report directly to the HousingLink Director and will be responsible for the following activities:


(1) Conduct Training to DV clients and advocates

  • Conduct a housing readiness and financial empowerment educational workshop series to domestic violence victims at Family Justice Centers (FJCs) in all five boroughs  
  • Conduct training workshops for advocates working with survivors of domestic violence about permanent housing resources
  • Enhance and update workshop materials as needed 
  • Communicate with FJC staff regarding workshop coordination
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to advocates and FJC clients seeking information about and assistance with permanent housing
  • Conduct focus groups/evaluations to aid in the enhancement of materials and services
  • Advocate on behalf of FJC clients where appropriate
  • Input information about trainings and track outcomes in data base


(2) Technical Assistance at Family Justice Centers

  • Conduct technical assistance sessions with advocates at Family Justice Centers in all five boroughs
  • Manage FJC technical assistance email and respond quickly and appropriately to housing questions, inquiries and consultations
  • Communicate regularly with FJC staff regarding technical assistance coordination and needs
  • Advocate on behalf of FJC clients where appropriate
  • Input information about consults and track outcomes in data base


(3) NYC Housing Updates

  • Stay informed about new housing programs, subsidies, and inititiatives relevant to domestic violence survivors
  • Attend housing workshops, meetings, and conferences as appropriate
  • Assist in the development of web content for the Online Housing Resource Center to ensure that information is up-to-date and accurate
  • Help implement initiatives and service enhancement features based on client and advocate needs
  • Other duties as directed


A qualified candidate must have extensive knowledge and a strong interest working with New York City housing and rental subsidy programs such as Section 8, LIHTC, LINC and FEPS. The candidate should be comfortable speaking to groups, have experience facilitating group discussion, have excellent organizational skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.  S/he must be responsible, reliable, and able to work independently as well as flexible in meeting the needs of clients and program partners and adapting to ongoing program changes.


Requirements: B.A. with 5 years’ work experience or an M.A. with 2 years related work experience. Experience with curriculum building and enhancement with a focus on adult training. Bi-lingual English/Spanish a must.
