The Managing Editor leads all day-to-day editorial and publishing operations of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Teaching Tolerance project. This person directly supervises the editorial team and hires freelancers to produce Teaching Tolerance magazine, create website content, produce special reports and oversee marketing campaigns, including social media. In addition, they are responsible for the editorial production of all content published by the department, including curricular material. The Managing Editor coordinates with design, web production and communications to produce and publicize TT resources.
They are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adept at multi-tasking and managing multiple projects simultaneously. The position requires a highly organized, seasoned writer and editor, a collaborative team player and an impassioned social-justice advocate who knows K–12 education.
The Managing Editor oversees all editorial planning, process and execution.
