Neighborhood Youth Association is seeking part-time educators in the Mar Vista, Venice, and South L.A. areas who excel in academics and demand the same of their students. Candidates must be highly motivated self-starters, team-oriented and flexible, able to work in a fast paced, academically rigorous after-school program environment. They must possess a love of reading and math and be able to instill this passion in children. Instructors will work in a non-traditional classroom setting with school-aged students, including tracking and re-mediating, challenging advanced students, and interacting with parents and teachers.
Instructors must be comfortable managing/supervising a classroom of 10-12 Elementary and/or Middle-School students. The Instructors must be proficient in High School Grammar and Pre-Algebra, have strong writing & English language skills as well as experience or willingness to learn how to lead team-building activities are essential. Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel as well as working towards a bachelor's degree are required. Spanish fluency is preferred.
Hours:
School Year: M - Th: 2 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Mar Vista & Venice
M - Th: 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.; South L.A.
