We are seeking an experienced professional with management experience, expertise with diverse funding streams including foundations and individual donors, and an enthusiasm for our mission eager to create and implement targeted fundraising strategies for our growing organization. As the Development Director, you will be responsible for creating sustainable fundraising systems and structures and oversee the overall strategic direction, leadership, and management of the organization’s fundraising designed to ensure JMA has the necessary resources to carry out its strategic plan priorities and achieve long-term sustainability.
The Development Director reports to the Executive Director and is part of the management team. Start date is June 1, 2021 (there is potential for an earlier start date for a qualified candidate). The location of the position can be Los Angeles, New York, Chicago or Birmingham, Alabama (where JMA offices are located).

Compensation for this role is $75,000-$83,000 per year DOE with the strong possibility of a raise after 6 months. Staff who work in Los Angeles and New York will qualify for a higher starting salary. Benefits include full health and dental benefits at no premium cost to the employee, up to $100/month cell phone reimbursement, generous time off including 12 personal days off a year, 12 paid vacation days, 12 sick days, 12 paid holidays, paid family leave and eligibility to apply for a paid sabbatical after 5 years. JMA also provides a 401(k) plan with 5% employer contribution after 6 months of employment and professional development opportunities. JMA staff are working remotely from Los Angeles, New York, Chicago or Birmingham, Alabama for the remainder of 2021 and receive a monthly Work From Home stipend of $75/month.
