The Development Manager creates and implements plans for the solicitation and ongoing cultivation of donors capable of major gifts and corporate sponsorships. They conduct meetings with donors and prospects to cultivate relationships and gifts. The Development Manager provides ongoing opportunities for contact with new and current donors. The Development manager is focused primarily on the success and growth of the fundraising success of the organization, while being committed to empowering action against the global health crisis of plastic pollution through science, education, and adventure.
The Development Manager reports to the Executive Director. This is a full-time position with benefits based in the 5 Gyres’ Los Angeles office.
The Development Manager is responsible for the identification, qualification, cultivation and solicitation of major and corporate gift prospects through meetings, trips, events, and other activities to reach the organization’s $1.0M annual fundraising goal. They will move prospects capable of gifts of higher amounts to the prospect pool for management by senior staff and board members. They will work on a variety of activities including providing complex program information to prospects and coordinating timely correspondence and acknowledgments. They use the 5 Gyres donor database to update donor information, produce reports, perform analysis, and track and cultivate donors.
