Greenpeace USA is looking for an experienced digital and offline organizer with a focus on organizing in California, to add to our Grassroots team. Initially, the Distributed Organizing Specialist will support Greenpeace’s efforts to reduce and end Single Use Plastic, working closely with our Plastics Campaign team. This role brings together distributed / digital and in-person organizing, coalition building, training, and leadership development expertise to give people meaningful ways to take action on our campaigns, in Southern California and nationwide. Long term, this role will focus on Greenpeace priority projects that have a focus or need for organizing and mobilization in California.
Greenpeace’s Grassroots team focuses on developing scalable engagement that results in our supporters taking more and more action with us, and deeper action over time to fight the biggest challenges to our environment. We know that we cannot make these changes alone, and are seeking applicants who are motivated and eager to help Greenpeace build a people-powered model for real change in the world.
Our ideal candidate is somebody who is creative, loves building relationships with new people, and brings substantial digital and offline organizing expertise. Our ideal candidate can quickly build relationships in person, while also keeping their teams of volunteer leaders updated, on task, and organized digitally. You should be an expert at mobilizing people both on and offline, using tried and true tactics such as webinars, text banking, house parties, and petition deliveries, but also creative tactics such as delivering a giant plastic monster to Nestle. Yes you can come up with and do amazing things like this at Greenpeace - it’s encouraged! We expect all Greenpeace staff to have a passion for equity and justice, including vision for what a decolonized environmental movement looks like and wants to get us there.
