To make our mission possible and fuel significant growth, we need a confident, highly organized, efficient, detail-oriented, resourceful and tech savvy administrative leader with a positive, fun-loving and entrepreneurial spirit to grow with us as our Foundation Administrator.
The successful candidate for this challenging, yet immensely rewarding position will have experience with and a passion for managing critical operations for a small business or non-profit. Our Foundation Administrator is chiefly responsible for the development and/or refinement of simple, efficient and effective systems and processes for both program and business operations that strengthen our infrastructure and support continued growth and exponential impact.
Reporting to our Founder & President/CEO, working closely with our Graduate Intern and interfacing regularly with our dedicated and distinguished TEAM City Scholars® executive donor-volunteers (Board of Directors & Executive Council), our Foundation Administrator takes charge of (1) program and event logistics, (2) campaign administration and (3) business operations that together fuelthe exponential impact of our signature investment, the City Scholars® Fellowship.
As a dynamic and diverse leadership learning community, our tuition-free City Scholars® Fellowship helps non-profit CEOs, distinguished as City Scholars® Foundation Fellows, build skills, confidence and connections to grow education non-profits from survival to success to significance serving thousands of youth where the need is greatest.
Coming together monthly (January – October, including our Fellowship Kick-Off, monthly Roundtables and Retreat) with distinguished corporate and community leaders, Foundation Fellows (currently 19 non-profit CEOs) learn, collaborate and inspire each other to help over 65,000 predominantly low-income youth each year throughout the five-county Greater Los Angeles region achieve against the odds in school and in life. Our Foundation Administrator ensures the on-time, on-target and on-budget implementation of our well-established and proven effective Foundation and Fellowship game plan. Essential accountability includes, but is not limited to:
(1) Program Logistics & Event Coordination: Fellowship Kick-Off (January), monthly Fellowship Roundtables (February – September), mid-year Celebrate City Scholars® Reception (July), Fellowship Retreat (October), Fellowship selection process, impact tracking, scheduling for individual leadership coaching appointments and coordination of site visits to Foundation Fellows’ organizations.
(2) Campaign Administration: Funder research, database development and management, funding proposal/letter preparation and submission (using templates), campaign tracking, contribution processing and donor acknowledgement, recognition and communications.
(3) Business Operations: Executive volunteer meeting logistics, scheduling, travel, purchasing, budgeting and financial record-keeping and reporting (using Quickbooks).
Our Foundation Administrator must be available to work longer hours on Fellowship event days (usually Wednesdays) and may occasionally represent the Foundation at business, education or community events.

COMPENSATION: Starts at $20/hour with opportunities for increased compensation with tenure and exceptional performance (including an initial 6-month review). Benefits include employer contribution to group health plan and SIMPLE IRA retirement savings plan, 12 paid holidays and a parking/public transportation reimbursement of up to $5/day. The Foundation’s office hours are 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m, Monday – Thursday. We are closed on Fridays and host all of our events and meetings during the work week.
