EHS-CCP Site Supervisor

Reports to:                  EHS-CCPEducation Coordinator       

Status:                         Exempt / Full time

Job Description:

Under the supervision of the EHS-CCP Education Coordinator, EHS-CCP Site Supervisor will supervise all teachers and will oversee all early childhood development and education activities provided by all staff at the designated child center.



The EHS-CCP Site Supervisor is responsible for:

  • The overall function of the Child Development/EHS-CCP classrooms-this includes ensuring the health and safety of the children, staff, parents, volunteers, vendors and visitors, etc.
  • Monitoring the Child Development Center and ensuring compliance with the State Licensing requirements, Head Start Performance Standards, Funding Terms and Conditions, Title 5, Title 22, Labor Law, etc.
  • Oversees the completion of the required child and environment assessments which includes the DRDP-2015, Parent Surveys and the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale as well as the analysis of findings and creating the Action Plan.
  • Participates in the overall agency Continuous Quality Improvement Process.
  • Developing nurturing and respectful relationships with families, children, and staff and, must be sensitive to the diverse cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the families and children served.
  • Represents the agency during all site visits for Community Care licensing, Health, Food, the Office of Head Start and other entities.
  • Overseeing the development and implementation and fidelity of age appropriate curriculum for all children in care.
  • Developing staffing schedules and assigning staff as necessary to meet program needs.
  • Ensuring the completion, quality and compliance of services provided to children and families including the development of lesson plans, activities, parent meetings and collaborating with the assigned Family Advocate to develop meaningful relationships with parents. Family and community engagement activities.
  • Monitoring for the completion of developmental screenings within the established timelines for every child enrolled in the program (ASQ and ASQ-SE).
  • Ensuring all required reports are maintained and submitted to appropriate parties, i.e. food, population, in-kind, and fiscal reports.
  • Ensuring the availability of supplies, i.e. classroom and office.
  • Ensuring that contract standards are met at all times.
  • Implementing activities that support Plaza’s School Readiness and Family Engagement goals.
  • Conducting classroom observations and providing coaching and mentoring that supports quality teaching practices, positive interactions and developmentally appropriate and inclusive learning environments.  
  • Responsible for ensuring implementation of record keeping requirements.
  • Responsible for monitoring all site activities and requirements. Assisting teachers in the utilization of data for classroom planning.
  • Implementing Reflective Supervision.
  • Assists in developing goals for program and individual classrooms.
  • Communicates problems or seek support from the Education Coordinator and Program Directors as needed.
  • Responsible for reporting any suspected child abuse and neglect, unusual incidents, abnormal behavior, injuries and/ or illnesses to the Education Coordinator and/or Program Director
  • Ensures teachers incorporate holistic, anti-bias, multicultural and age appropriate activities as part of the curriculum implementation.
  • Operates program within established budgetary parameters.
  • Assist teaching staff, as needed, with the completion of referrals for children who may benefit from further testing, treatment and diagnostic services including children with possible mental health, health, or disabilities concerns.
  • Arranging for Substitutes as needed.
  • Supervising teachers, cooks, and administrative support staff. Participates in the interviewing, selection, assignment, orientation and discipline of teaching staff, including volunteers.
  • Conducts annual performance evaluation of the assigned staff and supports with the development of professional development plans
  • Conducts regular supervision meetings and provides balanced feedback. 
  • Attends staff meetings, training and workshops as needed or assigned.
  • Reviewing and submitting time cards, work orders, purchase orders and other supporting documentation.
  • Participates on recruitment efforts to ensure a child wait list of eligible applicants greater than number of enrollment opportunities is maintained.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Plaza CS is seeking an experienced professional with the ability to work harmoniously in a multi-cultural team; with a caring, compassionate approach to working with children and families who can follow through in an organized and systematic fashion with families and service providers while supporting the continuous development of all children

The ideal candidate must have:

  • BA Degree in Child Development, or related field with 24 units in Child Development, 6 units in Administration and 2 units in Adult Supervision.
  • Must hold a current Child Development Site Supervisor’s (or above) permit.
  • Must hold a current Child Care CPR and Child Care Preventative Health & Safety training certification.
  • 6 units in Infant/Toddler units (if course has not been completed, it must be completed within the first year of employment).
  • Three years of supervision experience working with families and children in an early childhood center based setting.
  • Knowledge and skills to identify and report suspected child abuse and unusual incidents.

Special skills/ knowledge /abilities

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.


The successful candidate will have the ability to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Successful completion of pre-employment Physical exam and TB Clearance
  • Successful completion of background check including DOJ, FBI  CACI and Sexual Abuse Registry
  • Current certification in CPR and First Aid
  • Adherence to the Confidentiality Policy   and Plaza’s Standards of Conduct
  • Adherence to the Child Abuse/Unusual Incidents Reporting Mandates
  • May need to work a flexible schedule as work will be required during evening and weekend hours.
  • Valid California Driver's license, good driving record (DMV check will be conducted); and proof of automobile insurance as driving a vehicle to attend parent meetings, and community meetings is required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to change position; to sit, stand, walk, climb or balance; to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; to bend, twist and reach with hands and arms.
  • Lift and/or move up to 45 pounds


Childcare employees must be able to perform the following essential functions:

  • Observe, see, hear and respond to children’s needs, emergencies and conflicts that may occur in the child development center or on the playground.
  • Be aware of the cognitive, social and physical needs of children.
  • Communicate verbally and writing in English to the degree that child, parents and other staff members are able to understand and respond
