Plaza de la Raza Child Development Services, Inc. (Plaza) is a comprehensive early childhood education program with a focus on school readiness for children zero to five years of age. Developmentally appropriate services are provided for children from low income families, zero to five years of age. Plaza currently serves over 1,600 children and their families.
Summary of Duties
The Lead Teacher instructs and provides general direction to teaching staff and classroom volunteers. Leads teaching staff in the center, in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate learning experiences that engage the whole child. Establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment and encourage the involvement of families to strengthen the relationships between children, families and community. Responsible for the general day-to-day operations of a Head Start/Early Head Start center, ensuring regulatory and legal compliance with Agency’s policies, procedures and federal and state regulations.
Baccalaureate degree in early childhood education, child development or related field is required and must possess valid Site Supervisor Child Development Permit.
Four (4) years teaching in a child development program. Head Start experience is highly preferred.
