About the Position
At CAN, a team of 30 AmeriCorps College Coaches (fifteen 11th Grade Coaches and fifteen 12th Grade Coaches) provide crucial support to students as they navigate the social and academic challenges of high school and enter the intimidating college search, application, and enrollment processes. The 11th and 12th Grade AmeriCorps College Coaches work together on-site at their assigned high school sites to implement and deliver our comprehensive curriculum and program model, including relationship building, session facilitation, intensive coaching, event planning, and tracking data related to program participation and student success.
AmeriCorps College Coaches facilitate weekly after school sessions, which include activities such as career and college exploration, college list development, resume and personal statement writing, campus visits and college fairs, SAT test preparation and registration, FAFSA/WASFA and scholarship application completion, individual and group advising sessions, academic coaching, and general problem-solving to remove barriers for our students. Team members will also build strong relationships with their students, as well as with stakeholders at various schools and community organizations to increase the visibility and effectiveness of the program and support individual student success. This is a full-time, AmeriCorps National Service position.

Service Term and Schedule
This is a 10-month position beginning August 14th, 2017 and ending on June 15th, 2018. Typical hours for this position are 9am to 5pm, Monday through Thursday at your school site with Fridays spent doing professional development throughout King County. Some evening and weekend hours, as well as travel to/from school sites, meetings and community events may be required.
