Moving Traditions is seeking a smart, strategic, and experienced Director of Communications who will embrace our mission and who will have the opportunity to make a major impact on our national organization. A key member of the Development and Communications team, the Director is responsible for Moving Traditions’ communications strategy, leadership, and implementation, nationally and in six staffed regions. The Director will create and execute an integrated communications plan to promote and enhance awareness of Moving Traditions’ mission and strategic objectives across multiple platforms, and among key stakeholder audiences. Founded in 2005, Moving Traditions emboldens teens to flourish by fostering self-discovery, challenging sexism, and inspiring a commitment to Jewish life and learning. As a result of the organization’s immersive teen groups, led by Moving Traditions-trained adult mentors, 21,000 teens have grown to be confident, compassionate, and connected to Jewish life. Moving Traditions’ b’nai mitzvah program, launched in 2018, is its first to include parents and to work together with youth of all genders. Also in 2018, Moving Traditions renewed and renamed its teen groups, Rosh Hodesh for girls and Shevet for boys, and introduced Tzelem, the first national online and ongoing group to connect Jewish trans* and gender fluid teens with the guidance of a trained adult mentor.
