About Disability Rights Texas
Disability Rights Texas is the federally designated legal protection and advocacy agency (P&A) for people with disabilities in Texas. Our mission is to help people with disabilities understand and exercise their rights under the law, ensuring their full and equal participation in society.
The Foster Care Team works statewide representing foster children with disabilities providing a broad range services such as special education assistance, Medicaid assistance, transition services, locating placements, and finding therapeutic services. Clients may be medically fragile, have developmental or intellectual disabilities, mental illnesses, or emotional behavioral disorders. This Advocate provides services to clients/foster children who are being represented by attorneys on the foster care team by analyzing problems based on client information and case investigation. The Advocate then consults and collaborates with a foster care attorney to develop a case strategy.
