The Policy and Advocacy team develops members’ policy skills and provides ongoing support to help them attain high-impact positions at all levels of America’s policy landscape. Simultaneously, we work collaboratively with other teams at LEE to develop the policy knowledge of all members as they prepare to advance policies that lead to better educational outcomes for every child. As part of the Policy and Advocacy Team, the Research & Support sub-team provides resources and supports that help members, through a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion, to both build the policy knowledge to promote educational equity and the skills to become highly effective policy leaders and advocates in their community. We allow members to create, own, and support their own path to individual and collective policy leadership through the programs, resources and tools we provide.
The Director of Research & Early Career Support will play a fundamental role in developing the policy knowledge and skills of early career policy and advocacy leaders. They will think critically about the supports and resources that can meaningfully engage and develop our members in a scalable way. The Director will achieve this by managing the virtual Policy and Advocacy Writing Program, which ensures that members have the writing skills needed to excel in policy and advocacy careers and by managing the research and early career supports program, which includes designing and implementing a PA career support and transition program and providing one-on-one and group career coaching, as-needed. It also includes introducing members to the Policy and Advocacy Discern and Develop process, which includes online tools and resources developed to support members in exploring policy and advocacy careers. The Director will also support fellow team members in conducting research and creating deliverables that develop members’ policy knowledge and skills. The Director will report to the Senior Director, Policy and Advocacy - Research and Support.
