Budget Operations Manager: The Public Interest Network
The Public Interest Network is hiring a Budget Operations Manager to work with dozens of social change organizations to trim costs, manage and maintain equipment and vendor relationships and assist in preparing and monitoring their budgets. Successful candidates will be detail oriented, have experience in project management, strong problem solving skills, and have one year of administrative experience working in a campaign environment. This position is based in Denver, CO or Chicago, IL.

The Budget Department works with all of the organizations in our network to ensure we continue to employ that model for success. We ensure the financial health of our organizations, help to set the plans for future growth and ensure that our network as a whole is on track to hit our goals. We also work to cut costs through national contracts and effective management of valuable resources including computers.
Managing current equipment resources. Maintain database of computers and related equipment, work with national staff to re-allocate, maintain and troubleshoot our equipment. Identify new solutions to our equipment and related needs.
Manage major vendor contracts. Maintain insurance policies for organizations in 30+ states, work with vendors to ensure accurate billing and delivery of services, and identify and propose additional national vendors where needed.
Cost cutting. The administrator identifies opportunities for cost savings across the networks and implements those strategies. This includes working with vendors and negotiating contracts as well as tracking and allocating resources amongst our organizations.
Budget Planning, Analysis and Monitoring. The administrator works with the Budget Director and other senior staff to plan organizational budgets and identify opportunities to cut costs. The administrator also assists in collecting and reviewing spending and income reports throughout the year.
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation for this position is commensurate with the relevant professional experience and/or advanced degrees that a candidate has. The Public Interest Network offers a competitive benefits package.
Candidates should thrive under pressure, be detail-oriented, have strong problem solving skills and the maturity to manage confidential and sensitive information. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of relevant administrative experience, preferably in an activist, campaign or non-profit environment. Candidates must be comfortable working with Windows, Excel and large databases. A minimum two-year commitment is required.
