We have built on our portfolio of early learning centers to expand this transformative culture into a birth to eighth grade school composed of an Early Childhood and Elementary School. The school is creating unprecedented collaboration between early childhood and elementary educators as well as family support programs.  In addition, it will provide foundational exposure during the earliest years of life to our culture of high expectations and academic excellence

Position Objective: This position holds primary responsibility for managing day-to-day execution and progress of Christopher House’s annual fundraising goal to close the opportunity gap. The Associate Director of Development, under the direction of the Director of External Affairs, will build operational capacity, expand our success in foundation, corporate and government grants and build our individual giving program.


Responsibilities: Oversee the creation and effective implementation of the Development Plan as it relates to annual fundraising, including annual fund), and all institutional giving, coordinating the efforts of the CEO, Board of Directors, Auxiliary Board, Leadership Team, Management Team and other staff and volunteers. In partnership with the CEO and Director of External Affairs, create portfolios of individual donors in all stages of giving.  Develop and implement strategies to continually identify and engage new prospects to be added to the portfolio using such techniques as data mining, research, rating and screening. Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle:  initiate contact, develop appropriate cultivation strategies, move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure, make solicitations, and maintain stewardship contacts with donors; while adhering to the highest ethical standards. Provide regular reports on progress against goals. Manage two development employees, including a Grants Writer and an External Affairs Assistant. Serve as the front-facing relationship manager for institutional donors / prospects, in collaboration with the CEO and Grants Writer. Review all foundation solicitation materials, including LOIs and proposals, prior to submission.  Collaborate with Program Directors to ensure progress against their revenue goals, including both new and renewed grant revenue; identify greatest funding needs and opportunities to best engage individual donors. Personally, solicit support for special events, primarily an annual gala that is a significant source of annual income, including event sponsorships, table purchases, and auction items.  Oversee financial development information systems including the coding of contributions, donor records, funding profiles, fundraising calendars and timelines, gift acknowledgements, mailing lists and in-kind contribution records. Keep donor database up to date with all donor activity. Attend Christopher House events, dinners and meetings, when appropriate, to enhance external relations with stakeholders and support the growth and expansion of meaningful donor relationships. Attend meetings as needed of the Christopher House Board of Directors.


Qualifications: Christopher House seeks a development professional with a minimum of five years of post-college work experience, at least three years in a development/advancement role, at least two years in a management position in development, and a proven track record of success with individual giving.


Education: Bachelor’s degree is required.
