Employment Opportunity: U.S. Operations Manager
Gardens for Health International
Location: Cambridge, MA
Start Date: Spring 2018
For nearly ten years, Gardens for Health International (GHI) has implemented a unique nutrition-through-agriculture program to combat childhood malnutrition in rural Rwanda. The program has achieved positive results and reaches over 4,000 families on an annual basis. Working in close partnership with Rwanda’s Ministry of Health and a number of grassroots and multinational organizations, GHI has also become a leading voice in national health and agriculture policy circles. GHI has a dedicated staff of approximately 100 in Rwanda, with our headquarters located just outside of Kigali, and a fundraising and operations office in Boston, Massachusetts.
We are an impact-driven organization with a deep commitment to ensuring that every program we design meets and responds to the unique needs of the communities we serve. Our team is flexible, innovative, and passionate about sparking lasting change. Our small U.S. Office supports every aspect of our work in Rwanda, and is deeply engaged in discussions around program quality, evolution, and growth. We are looking for team members who share our passion for taking proven community-based programs to scale, and who aren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and get to work.
The US Operations Manager position is an ideal role for someone who wants to gain exposure to all aspects of working in a non-profit organization, from finance and human resources to fundraising and communications.
The US Operations Manager ensures the smooth functioning of GHI’s internal operations systems, namely financial oversight and human resources, and facilitates efficient, productive communications and information-sharing between the U.S. and Rwanda offices. The US Operations Manager’s responsibilities span a number of teams, including Operations, Finance, Development, and Communications.
The individual’s primary responsibilities will be to oversee internal operations and staff performance, and serve as a thought partner in executing the strategic plan. The US Operations Manager will work closely with the in-country Senior Leadership Team, the Board of Directors, the Development and Communications teams, as well as serve as the primary point of contact with external consultants and vendors.
