  Job Description

POSITION TITLE:         Clinical Supervisor                         

REPORTS TO:                Program Director


POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction and supervision of the Program Director, the Clinical Supervisor is responsible for the clinical supervision of staff and daily operations of the Residence.




  • Provide direct supervision, individual and group, of the Residence staff.  Document supervision and work with each clinical staff to develop a professional development plan based on the supervision sessions.
  • Supervise program activities (i.e. groups, workshops, seminars, etc.) This includes coordination and monitoring of services provided by other agency units.
  • Complete Intake documentation for newly admitted clients. Conduct weekly orientation groups for new clients and weekly transition group for clients getting prepared to complete the program.
  • Review all Admissions to Residence and assign cases accordingly.
  • Work with the Program Director to develop and implement an on going chart review system for the residential programs.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.  Includes coordination of case conferences when appropriate with other units and/or agencies.
  • Maintain minimum caseload of 7 clients as needed
  • Assist Program Director in maintaining staffing requirements and programmatic operations as related to regulatory compliance. 
  • Review and monitor all reports submitted to Entitlement Unit. Assist with completing 2010E housing applications online.
  • Submit reports as required by the Program Director on a timely basis.  This includes internal reporting requirements such as Outcome Management Reports.
  • Submit supervisory reports of counseling staff to Program Director as deemed appropriate.
  • Participate in Middle Management Meetings as representative of Residential Programs.
  • Coordinate networking and out reach efforts to maintain census and positive community relations.
  • Assume any other responsibilities delegated by the Director.
  • Attend meetings as assigned.
  • Attend annual in-service’s as required or mandated.




  • Graduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or related field required
  • Must be licensed under NYSED or a CASAC and a minimum of three (3) years administrative and clerical experience in a substance abuse residential setting.
  • Experience working in a mental health setting.
  • Experience working with the homeless population a plus.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all populations served.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to speak, read and write the English language.
