SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Graphic Designer I creates a broad range of promotional and brand creative with a primary focus on social media content design, email, and web assets, including landing pages, banner ads, animations, short videos, and other digital formats. Reporting to the Design Supervisor and working closely with the Social Media and Content Marketing team, the Graphic Designer I is able to translate objectives into visually compelling creative that expresses the Museum brand and its exhibits, program, products, and events to achieve maximum impact in the marketplace. The role brings a fresh perspective to the team and helps to elevate the Museum's digital footprint, both creatively and technically. The positions also supports some offline, print creative projects on an as-needed basis.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create compelling digital assets that achieve business objectives using authorized icons, colors, approaches, styles, and sizes. Use industry standard graphics and Museum brand-specific design elements that align with brand strategy in an average of 5 to 10 projects per week.
  • Design and produce social media graphics and content, design emails and email templates, digital display ads, landing pages, infographics, and other digital content, an average of 5 to 10 projects a week.
  • Develop digital concepts for A/B testing that conforms to best practices in digital design and user experience, approximately 2 to 4 projects per month on average.
  • Meet 1 -3 times a week with various stakeholders to understand objectives, obtain feedback on designs, and contribute to brainstorming sessions in order to maintain a manageable schedule and minimize changes in the development process.
  • Develop print materials including signage, programs, invitations, posters, banners, flyers, mailers, and other institutional print collateral as needed. 1 to 5 projects per week on average.


WORK SCHEDULE:

This position is full-time, 40hrs/wk, Monday-Friday


REPORTS TO:

Director, Marketing Communications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science or Arts degree preferred.
  • 1 or more years of Graphic Design, Marketing Communications experience.
  • Demonstrated layout, illustration, graphic design, and typography skills.
  • Past experience designing across various mediums (digital display, social, email, print, video) in a professional setting.
  • Experience designing social media content (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Snapchat, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of web and mobile standards, social platforms, email design, and responsive design
  • Understanding of technical constraints imposed by the different forms of digital media.
  • Experience coding email templates with a focus on cross-platform compatibility and responsive frameworks.
  • Fluency in: Mac OS environment, Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Acrobat, After Effects, and font management tools.
  • Basic skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects under specific deadlines/timelines, with flexibility to react to real-time opportunities.


STARTING SALARY:

Exempt (Salaried). Commensurate with experience.
