Cookie Cupboard Staff-Boston Job viewed 154 times.
  Job Description

The annual Girl Scout cookie program is the largest girl-led business in the world. It is also the way that Girl Scouts fund their activities and contributions to their communities. Like the Girl Scout program itself, these Cookie Cupboard roles are both an opportunity to earn money and to be part of this fun, exciting, and memorable annual event in the lives of Girl Scouts in your community.

Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts (GSEMA) has two openings for the temporary, part-time position of Cookie Cupboard Staff.  This position will report to the Product Program Manager and will be a mobilized position in Boston.

The Cookie Cupboard seasonal team manages and staffs GSEMA’s Cookie Cupboards during the annual Girl Scout Cookie Program. Each Cupboard has one manager and multiple staff. All roles are customer-facing and involve processing and filling cookie orders (counted in cases of cookies, each containing twelve packages) for troop volunteers and staff running council organized Girl Scout programs.

These are temporary, part-time positions effective December 1, 2017 through March 3, 2018.

Key Responsibilities of the Cupboard Staff:

  • Use the cookie program database (vendor-specific software; training provided) to track and fill orders.
  • Take calls from volunteers about their orders, address changes and/ or adjustments.
  • Pull cases of cookies from pallets of cookies delivered by delivery agent several times a week.
  • Work with the delivery agent to stock the cupboard with the incoming cookie deliveries.
  • Organize and reorganize the stock in the cupboard.
  • Manage and report Cookie Cupboard inventory daily.
  • Fill individual cookie orders for volunteers and staff.
  • Provide friendly and efficient customer service.
  • Work positively with the Product Program team to make the Cookie Cupboard a fun and pleasant environment for volunteers and family members picking up cookies.

Skills and Qualifications:  Must have a positive attitude, customer service experience, and the ability to quickly learn software programs and use them accurately and efficiently. Must be able to multi-task effectively under pressure. Qualified candidates will be dependable problem solvers, be able to meet deadlines, and provide outstanding customer service with a cheerful and helpful attitude. Computer proficiency and accuracy, keyboard skills, data entry skills, and experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) are required. High School diploma or equivalent. Girl Scout experience is a plus.

Physical Demands: Cupboard staff must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and be able to move and pack cases of cookies to assist volunteers, families, and staff with loading and unloading cars, vans, and storage areas, indoors and out. Cupboard staff is often exposed to cold for extended periods of time and must dress appropriately for various winter weather conditions.

Hours: Must be able to work the established Cupboard schedule for position and location for the duration of the cookie program. Each Cupboard has its own schedule; most Cupboards are open Tuesday through Friday 10-4 and Saturday mornings. One evening a week may also be required.
