The Mayfair Leadership Development Coordinator II supports SOMOS Mayfair’s leadership collective to strengthen relationships and integrate restorative and transformative practices to continue growing a thriving and vibrant Mayfair. This position will research and develop new strategies to build community rooted in mutual support and accountability, address harm and support healing. They will share this learning and strengthen capacity, facilitating meetings, retreats and trainings and providing coaching and technical assistance to community leaders and staff. A successful candidate will be open to exploring and experimenting in community and will be flexible, creative and comfortable with ambiguity and taking initiative.
The Mayfair Coordinator II reports directly to SOMOS Mayfair’s Leadership Development Manager. The Coordinator II will be charged with providing tools and training for our intergenerational collective of leaders, who are advancing our community organizing, literacy, anti-displacement and economic opportunity strategies. This collective includes youth and adults. The Coordinator II will also build alliances and partnerships locally to move the Mayfair Platform to fruition.
SOMOS Mayfair was created in 1997 to address the chronic crises that resulted from the high rates of poverty in the Mayfair neighborhood of East San Jose. As SOMOS has effectively and comprehensively responded to community needs, we have honed our focus on building the power of our community to proactively address two long-term community priorities - fostering early school success and community self-determination. The mission of SOMOS Mayfair is to support children, organize families, and connect neighbors to uplift the dreams, power, and leadership of community and address systemic inequities.
